New SPS superintendent chosen to replace John Jungmann

The future superintendent for Springfield Community Educational facilities is in charge, on an interim basis, of the nation’s seventh-greatest district.

Grenita Lathan is interim superintendent of Houston Independent College District, which has 276 colleges, 27,000 employees and 196,000 students.

Lathan was the Springfield faculty board’s unanimous preference to switch the retiring John Jungmann. Her to start with day will be July 1.

“I design my anticipations,” Lathan stated in an interview adhering to the announcement Monday. “They can expect to see me out in the colleges, see me in the community. They can count on me to be pretty clear and straightforward with them about the points that are functioning and the parts in require of advancement.”

She will be the initially woman and first human being of colour to serve in the district’s leading work.
