Kearney Public School hires new transportation director | Local News

KEARNEY — Kearney Community Schools has hired Jason Sutton as the new transportation director beginning July 1.

Sutton will substitute Becky Reier, who will retire on Sept. 1.

“I am excited to consider on this problem,” Sutton explained. “Our transportation section capabilities at a significant stage, and I’m humbled by the option to provide the pupils and families of KPS in this new purpose. For several learners, the university day begins and finishes on a faculty bus, and I appear forward to supporting us guarantee safe, reputable and productive services.”

Reier has worked in many capacities in the transportation section commencing as a paraprofessional on a faculty bus 28 a long time ago. She turned a bus driver, and was a complete-time assistant mechanic for 4 a long time prior to getting the director in 2012.

Sutton has been with the district given that 2015. He initial served as the director of curriculum, instruction and assessment. For the past 5 a long time, he has been the assistant principal at Dawn Center School.

Sutton attained his doctorate in instructional administration from the College of Nebraska at Omaha. He gained his master’s degree in academic administration from the College of Nebraska at Omaha and his bachelor of science diploma from the College of Nebraska at Kearney with endorsements in math and bodily education.

Prior to KPS, Sutton was an assistant principal at Omaha South Significant Magnet Faculty and served at Norris Middle School in Omaha as assistant principal, dean of college students and a middle college math teacher.

KPS has 37 transportation automobiles, which involves buses and scaled-down vehicles, 6 entire-time drivers and 26 component-time motorists and paraprofessionals.
